The
purpose of the Michiana Gem & Mineral Society is to promote the
study and enjoyment of the earth sciences and the lapidary arts, and to
share lapidary knowledge and techniques. The Michiana Gem & Mineral Society, a
not-for-profit organization, is affiliated with the Midwest
Federation of Mineralogical Societies and with the American
Federation of Mineralogical Societies.
As
a club we welcome friends, families, anyone whom has an interest in the
fields of geology, mineralogy, lapidary arts, or earth sciences in
general. There is a little something for everyone.
Meetings
General
meetings are usually held on the fourth Sunday of each month, 2:00 PM EST in
the basement of Our
Redeemer Lutheran Church, 805 S. 29th St., South Bend, IN.
Doors open at 1:30 PM, take the
stairs to the basement to the left of the Wall Street main entrance. The program begins about 2:45 PM.
Guests are always
welcome.
Regular
exceptions include April or May (on third Sunday to avoid Easter Sunday
and/or Memorial Day weekend), July (picnic, but no
meeting), August, (annual show, but no meeting) and the
November/December meeting and Christmas party.
Board meetings are held before the general meetings.
The
MGMS annual club show is usually held the third weekend of August.
MGMS annual membership dues are payable to the MGMS Treasurer by December 15th.Use the membership application below for new memberships or your annual renewal.
